Knee Arthroscopy: What to Expect Before, During and After Keyhole Surgery
Knee arthroscopy is one of the most common orthopaedic operations today. Instead of opening the knee, the surgeon makes two or three small cuts and uses a camera to see inside the joint on a high-definition screen.
Who needs it?
- Meniscus tears causing locking or catching
- ACL or PCL ligament tears
- Loose bodies inside the knee
- Cartilage injuries in younger patients
On the day of surgery
The procedure is done under spinal or general anaesthesia and usually takes 45–90 minutes. Many patients go home the same day or the next day.
Recovery
Walking with support usually begins within 24–48 hours. Physiotherapy starts early and is the single most important factor in a good result. Ligament reconstruction needs a longer, structured rehab before returning to sports.
At OM Orthocare, knee arthroscopy is performed in Palanpur with the advanced 4K Stryker system — so you do not need to travel to Ahmedabad.
