About this treatment
Knee replacement replaces the worn-out surfaces of the knee joint with a smooth artificial implant. It is recommended when advanced arthritis causes constant pain and limits walking despite medicines, injections and physiotherapy. Modern implants and techniques allow most patients to walk the day after surgery.
